Your first couple photoshoot — Planning Tips

As your relationship enters its next stage, here's some tips leading up to your first photoshoot
#1 As a couple, what exemplifies your relationship?
Each couple attaches emotional significance to different things. For some, it's a common hobby, or favourite haunt. For others, it's how you first met, a kindred spirit or personalities with that spark of chemistry
As the co-authors of your own love story, consider choosing a photographer who can convey the personality of your relationship through photography.
#2 Photographic style(s)
Having a basic idea about the different photographic styles can help you better understand what appeals to you. Read more: Understanding Wedding Photography Styles
#3 The "vibe check"
I highly recommend couples to have an in-person or online chat with their prospective photographer, to get a feel for how it feels to collaborate together. This gives you greater confidence in your eventual choice, and I also believe it directly creates a better photo session and photos!
For couples considering an agency with an associate photographer roster, consider requesting to know more about your assigned photographer before the shoot.

#4 Share your ideas and plans early
Even if these are preliminary, an experienced photographer can provide the couple with recommendations on artistic vision, choice locations and more.
#5 Take a Rain Check
Check with your photographer about how rescheduling, inclement weather and external factors will play out. Even if contingencies don't surface, reaching common understanding is still key.
